Parental burnout is a phenomenon that occurs when parents experience exhaustion, frustration and a sense of disconnection from their children.

It is a well-known fact that parenting is not an easy task. In fact, it's one of the toughest jobs there are because it requires constant attention, patience, and selflessness. And while there are many joys in parenting too, some parents find themselves feeling the pressure of it all and they end up experiencing parental burnout.

1. De-Clutter Your Home

De-cluttering your home is a process that takes time and patience. It is not an easy task to take on, but it can be done with the right mindset. In this section, we will explore what you need to do and how to go about it.

Step 1: Start with the easy stuff You might start by tackling items that are more easily accessible such as books, magazines, and clothes. This will give you a good idea of where you stand when it comes to decluttering your home.

    2. Find Supportive Friends or Family Members

    The next step is to find someone who can help you out with the kids in the meantime. This is a big deal and you should not take this lightly. The best way to do this is to ask friends and family members if they would be able to help out for a few hours or days at a time. You should also ask your friends and family members if they would be willing to babysit for you on a regular basis.

      3. Develop A Routine For Your Children & Yourself

      The routine should be developed in a way that it is suitable for the age group of the children and also taking into account their needs. It should be easy to follow, which will help both you and the kids adhere to it. It should also be flexible enough so that if there are any changes in circumstances, it can be easily adjusted.

      4. Take Time Off or Limit Screen Time in Order to Focus on You and Your Kids.

      In order to take care of oneself, it is important to take time off work as a parent. This includes having a designated time when the children are asleep in order to recharge and have some much-needed time for oneself.

      It is also important to limit screen time for kids and parents during the day. It is not healthy for children or adults to spend too much time in front of a screen, which can lead to obesity, sleep deprivation, and other health issues. I have also noticed that my kids behaviour can be quite disruptive after being on the screens.

      5. Healthy Eating Plan

      A healthy diet is a key to living a fulfilled and happy life. Eating healthy food not only helps you maintain your weight but also provides you with the necessary nutrients for your body to function properly. It is important that parents eat healthy so that they can provide their children with nutritious food, stay energized, and avoid parent burnout. If you are not eating enough protein, fruit and vegetables etc you will find your emotions and body will not work as it should and you can become stressed and burnt out.


      Parental Burnout is a real thing and especially if you are single or your children are young. Like in an aeroplane, you need to sort out your oxygen before your kids. Please take care of yourself. You should not be afraid or too proud to ask for help when you need it. Your children will be okay without you for a little while 😊
