What is Qi (chi)

If you have watched the movie Kung Fu Panda, you will be all over this..but if not…


Qi is a form of energy that is essential for life. It is believed to be the source of all life and can be found in everything from plants and animals to humans. Qi is also known as chi or prana, and it has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries. In modern times, qi has become increasingly popular as a way to improve health and well-being. It can be used to promote relaxation, reduce stress, increase energy levels, and even help with healing. Qi has been studied extensively by scientists in recent years, leading to a better understanding of this ancient form of energy and its many benefits.

    What are Meridians in Traditional Chinese Medicine?

    Meridians are pathways in the body that are used to transport energy, known as qi energy, throughout the body. This is an integral part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which is based on the idea that a balance of qi energy is essential for good health and well-being.     Meridians are linked to all the organs and tissues. They are responsible for transporting Qi (life energy) throughout the body. There are 12 main meridian pathways that run along the surface of the circulation acupuncture points which can be used to help balance energy flow in the body. The 12 meridian pathways are the following:

    1. Lung Meridian

    2. Large Intestine Meridian

    3. Stomach Meridian

    4. Spleen Meridian

    5. Heart Meridian

    6. Small Intestine Meridian

    7. Bladder Meridian

    8. Kidney Meridian

    9. Pericardium Meridian

    10. Triple Burner Meridian

    11. Gallbladder Meridian

    12. Liver Meridian

    Each one of these Meridians has a special purpose in your body. When blocked they can cause havoc with certain emotions and/or body parts.

      How Do Meridians Affect Your Health and Well-Being?

      5. Gua sha: This is a technique that involves using a tool to scrape the skin along the meridians to promote the flow of energy and relieve pain or tension.

      6. Kinesiology: This technique uses a technique called Muscle checking or testing to discover which Meridians may be blocked and the best way to unblock the energy.

      7. Reiki: Reiki can also assist in unblocking energy in the Meridians
